OUR MINISTRIES
Book Club
The OZ Readers is a book club that meets monthly in member homes on a rotating basis. We read a variety of fiction and non-fiction, classic and modern works chosen by members, have rich conversations about the selected text and enjoy each other’s company. We have been meeting via Zoom since March 2020.
Confirmation for Youth
Our Confirmation program has been a two-year study and experience for middle school students using a variety of curriculums customized to the particular students as they prepare for membership in the church.
Habitat for Humanity
Our Habitat for Humanity team creates awareness of local affordable housing issues and encourages participation in Habitat construction projects (work crews and food for work crews).
Sunday School
Christian Education is available for Pre-K through elementary school students. We also periodically offer an adult Sunday School class typically focusing on theology and social issues.
General Outreach Ministries of First Congregational – UCC
The general outreach ministries of First Congregational – UCC of Zumbrota include partnerships with a number of local, national, and international organizations. Locally, we support the CARE Clinic (free medical clinic), Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, Stabilize Zumbrota-Mazeppa Families, Zumbrota Area Food Shelf and the Zumbrota Ministerial Association, all community organizations that support families in the Zumbrota area and the county. We are a valued partner of Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity and, along with generous financial support, have provided volunteer work crews, board members and committee members for more than 20 years. Nationally, we support Back Bay Mission in Mississippi (housing construction and repair) and Disaster Relief and have participated in several mission trips with Back Bay Mission. Internationally, we support the Children’s Shelter of Cebu in the Philippines (orphanage and adoption service) and, through Global Ministries, the Liddle family Missionaries in East Timor at the southern extreme of the Malay Archipelago.
